Green Lake Park Wayfinding
Environmental Design | Art Direction | Illustration
This project addresses the outdated wayfinding system in Green Lake Park. The solution involves creating a new signage system with clear information using universal icons and bright colors. My design concept emphasizes energy and inclusivity, ensuring a safer and more enjoyable park experience.
Problem: Green Lake Park’s outdated wayfinding system presents an issue that must be addressed. Visitors often fail to understand regulatory signs, which can lead to hazardous situations, including collisions between electric skateboarders and pedestrians. The signs’ poor visibility and confusing information are the main reasons for these misunderstandings. Furthermore, the signage is old and deteriorating, and the map contains unclear information, making it difficult for visitors to navigate the park safely and efficiently.
Solution: To address this issue, my goal was to create a simple and easy-to-understand signage system that uses universal icons and bright colors for improved visibility. I also aimed to enhance the visitor experience by incorporating public art and placemaking, encouraging physical activity, and involving more people in the park’s recreational activities.
