Overview of AI Comic Book:
I used the AI image generator Midjourney to create a short comic book inspired by one of my dreams in just five days. This experiment demonstrated the potential of AI image generators while also highlighting their ethical and copyright challenges.
During this project, I used my knowledge of art history, styles, and photography techniques to create specific text prompts. I iterated multiple times to achieve the desired outcome. I discovered that while Midjourney and similar AI image generator programs are powerful tools for quickly generating concepts, they cannot replace the invaluable expertise and artistic sensibilities of human designers. Although there may be some threats to the design industry, the true value of such tools is in speeding up concept development rather than replacing the intricate work of designers.
Challenge:
It was challenging to maintain consistency in characters and backgrounds while creating an AI comic book. The AI-generated different images each time, which resulted in a lack of coherence. To overcome this problem, I used the same seed number, text prompts, and character sheets as a foundation. I also experimented with various parameters, which allowed me to control the AI's creative output and ensure consistent characters throughout the comic book.
